Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Festival Buddy app for iPhone and Android (“the App”), your festival companion. Festival Buddy was previously called “Camper Calling Unofficial”; it is the same app under a new name, and this policy covers it on both platforms.

Summary

The App is designed to work offline once loaded, and contains no advertising, no advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking. To back up your ratings across devices, to let you share with friends if you choose to, and to show festival organisers which acts were well received, the App stores a small amount of data using Google Firebase. You can use the App without signing in, and you can delete everything at any time from within the App.

Data We Collect

How We Use It

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Data We Do Not Collect

Third-Party Services

The App uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Cloud Messaging) as a data processor to store, sync and deliver the data described above, and offers Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In as optional ways to back up your account. On Android, the App also uses Firebase Crashlytics, which collects crash diagnostics (device model, operating system version, and the state of the app at the moment it crashed) so faults can be fixed. Tips are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play Billing. On iPhone, if you choose to build a playlist, the App uses Apple Music with your permission; that exchange happens between your device and Apple. These providers process data under their own terms. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or any advertising SDK.

Legal Basis (UK/EU GDPR)

Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we rely on your consent for optional demographics (which you can withdraw at any time by clearing them), for notifications, and for sharing with friends (which you start and can end at any time); and on our legitimate interest in providing rating backup/restore, keeping the App working, and producing anonymous aggregate insights for festival organisers. You can object to processing or request access, correction, or erasure of your data.

Data Retention & Your Rights

Your ratings, line-up and profile are kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App — on iPhone, Info → Account & Backup → Delete account & data; on Android, Settings → Delete account and data. This removes your ratings, line-up, demographics, friend connections, usage totals, notification token and account from our systems. Signing out simply returns the App to anonymous use. Aggregate statistics that contain no identifying information are retained, as they cannot be linked back to you.

Children’s Privacy

The App can be used without providing any personal information, and demographics are always optional. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, do not run targeted advertising, and do not use third-party ad SDKs. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
